DAA Mission: Advancing the use of data to understand and improve the digital world through professional development and community.

We’ve just closed out a very successful year for DAA and as the New Year begins, I’m really excited about where the DAA is headed. Our revised mission statement (above) has guided the work of our board, with a collective focus on making decisions that enhance the member experience. Our board is both visionary and strategic in our purpose as THE nonprofit association for digital analytics.

Some highlights for the year:

  • DAA is strong and growing. We have added 11 new corporate members this year, and are close to 4,000 members strong. In addition, two new chapters (Denver and Raleigh) were added in 2016, bringing our total chapters to 14.
  • Nine symposiums were held across the country in chapter cities with enthusiastic member engagement.
  • The DAA Digital Analytics Cookbook – a new initiative started in 2016, we ended the year with a phenomenal 79 recipes.
  • The Women in Analytics Community was formed and is an active contributor to the voice of the digital analytics community. The group had three in-person events, and has a significant online presence.
  • The CWA (Certified Web Analyst) certification program offered through DAA is now administered in an internet-based testing platform, making it accessible for many more people around the globe.
  • The Member Community had a 44% growth in number of total posts, and a 32% increase in number of total contributors.
  • A new professional development product, Job Descriptions for the Industry, was produced in conjunction with the Competency Framework.
  • Self-Assessment 2.0 was launched in September 2016. This enhanced tool has had over 600 users.
  • The webinars and Thought Leader Conversations drew thousands of views during the year. There are currently 16 on-demand webinars, 4 Cookbook recipe webinars, and 19 Thought Leader Conversations available on-demand.
  • A speakers bureau was developed this year and it now includes more than 70 DAA members.

Plans for 2017:

  • We want to continue to grow our membership footprint across the corporate, individual, and academic segments. We are also looking to an emerging market segment of analytics consumers – those folks who consume analytics reports prepared by analytics teams.
  • Eight symposia are planned, along with a renewed commitment to chapters, ensuring they have the resources and guidance they need to strengthen their impact. Each of our 14 chapters is being tasked with hosting at least one event per quarter. (Yes, step up and volunteer to help plan or host a chapter event!)
  • The DAA certification program will continue to be updated and promoted, as we benefit from the new internet-based format.
  • Our goal for the Cookbook is to pass the 100 recipe mark next year, and the Women in Analytics has some big plans as well.
  • A long-awaited Compensation Study of our industry will be unveiled in January!
  • Look for an overhaul of our Corporate Member Advisory Board, that will give our corporate members even more value through a peer-to-peer exchange.
  • Our newly re-designed website should launch in Q1. We have eliminated old content and enhanced the user experience, along with an upgrade to our backend systems to enhance security and privacy.
  • Based on member feedback, we will be working to produce more “snackable” content, such as 30-minute webinars.
  • An upgraded and enhanced Career Center is planned for 2017.

Most importantly – our focus in 2017 is the same – to be a member-driven organization focused on member needs and wants. If you have questions or ideas – let us know! We are committed to our industry and our members!

Thank you for the opportunity to serve you.
