Letter from the President: New Website, New Opportunity for Community

If you’re a DAA member, you’ve probably noticed a few emails in your inbox recently notifying you about some changes to our website and the new Collaborate section designed for members only. If you haven’t had a chance to visit yet, please stop by www.digitalanalyticsassociation.org and take a look at our new design.

Many individuals throughout the DAA staff and our association management company worked long hard hours to make this new website happen. While these changes are a major step in the right direction, DAA leadership made a conscious decision to deliver our new web pages and the DAA member community pages to you without aspirations of being perfectly perfect. Rather than delay our ability to bring you information on analytics industry education, professional development, industry news and events by scrutinizing the details, we erred towards delivery rather than perfection. As a result, you may find a typo here or there, a broken link, or other things that we missed, where we need your help to fix them. As you remember, the DAA is a member-driven, volunteer-powered organization and our plan is to continue to optimize our digital assets based on feedback from our Committees, Chapters, and members at large. So we welcome your feedback on anything that needs fixing, improving or optimizing so that we can deliver industry information in the best way possible. So please drop us a line at info@digitalanalyticsassociation.org to tell us what you like, what you don’t and what needs fixing.

The launch of our new website marks a significant milestone in a strategic path that we embarked on over two years ago. As you may recall, the DAA re-branded from the Web Analytics Association to become the Digital Analytics Association because as an industry we recognized that ***what we do*** is not just about the web anymore. The visitors that traverse our member’s digital assets do so from computers, tablets and mobile devices. And they do so without sympathy for our challenges or constraints in the ability to measure their actions. As an industry that’s focused on understanding behavior we recognize that it’s about more than just web behavior. As such we’re evolving as an industry to keep pace with the rapid changes in the world around us. This new DAA website and particularly the Community pages is one opportunity to share experiences and observations about how we as digital analytics professionals adapt to these changes. It’s just one more way, in addition to DAA industry events, Committee Meetings, Special Interest Groups, and local Chapters to connect with your peers – to learn from them – and to share your wisdom.

So please take a moment to visit our new website and community pages. Kick the tires, take it for a spin, tell us what you like and tell us what’s not perfect. We’re ready to optimize.

Sincerely,
John Lovett
