  • 1.  Cohort Analysis

    Posted 11-26-2016 07:58 PM

Introduction: Analyze actions or the behavior of a group of people sharing a common characteristic during a particular time span.

Analysis Overview:  This Cohort Analysis recipe will walk through the steps on how to pull the raw data, create cohort identifiers, calculate life stages, and create a pivot table and graph.

    Analysis Benefits:

    1. Cohort analysis allows us to identify relationships between the characteristics of a population and that population's behavior. Examples of these are studying the spending trends of cohorts from different periods in time, which can indicate if the quality of the average customer being acquired is increasing or decreasing in over time.
    2. Understand the lifetime value of a group of people (eg. New customers, returning customers, high / low ticket-value customers, dormant customers, etc)
    3. Plan / execute your marketing communication based on the behavior of each cohort
