Philly's Ramping Up for Its 7th Dynamic Symposium

The Philadelphia DAA chapter is known for putting on Symposiums that are first rate in every way. They've been doing it consistently since 2011. Thanks to an excellent leadership team, this year's event taking place on October 19, will be just as valuable. Under chapter leaders Bruce Segal,Vanguard; Daniel LawsDaBrian Marketing Group; and Aaron Maass, MaassMedia, LLC and assisted by a dedicated planning committee, this year's event will again feature speakers who are analytics thought leaders delivering cutting edge content. Because of their reputation for delivering the most relevant content, Philadelphia's Symposia are well attended, typically attracting about 160 attendees.

The Philadelphia DAA leadership belives the future of the DAA rests with strong chapters. With around 300 DAA members in the Philadelphia area and a strong and growing analytics community from which to draw, leaders anticipate continued growth and success in the years ahead.

Three industry issues are of primary interest to those in the Philadelphia chapter:

  • The gap between demand for people with strong analytic skills and the small, but growing talent pool
  • The need to have deeper technical understanding of Python and R and how to connect data sources as well as the ability to generate real insights that can help organizations make better business decisions
  • The plethora of software solutions that do the same thing. Meanwhile, enterprise companies may have several internal groups that perform analytics, which can create confusion over roles and responsibilities.

The Philly membership looks to the DAA for help in addressing the skills gap in analytics and driving the conversation on how best to navigate a world overflowing with analytics solutions.

DAA board member and Philly chapter co-leader Aaron Maass remarked, "I think the Philadelphia chapter is only scratching the surface with what we can do at the local level to advance the interests of digital analysts and help grow the DAA."
