As technology has continued to advance, many classic marketing methods have started to go the way of the dodo. We’re here to tell you that they shouldn’t go extinct just yet. There are quite a few traditional marketing methods that your business should be using that still work. Don’t believe us? Keep reading. These classic marketing methods below can make a huge difference for your business.

Why Should My Business Use These Techniques?
Well, to put it simply, marketing your business is something that should always be changing. To keep your business at the top, you need to constantly rethink your marketing strategies. The market is always changing, and your marketing techniques should be too.

Don’t Wait Until It’s Too Late
It’s important to know when to change your marketing strategies. You should update the way that you’re marketing well before income starts to decline. Some tell-tale signs that your marketing strategies should be updated are:
  • Your budget has changed since your last marketing strategy was put to use.
  • Lead generation has started to plateau.
  • You have new products that aren’t part of your strategy.
If you’re using a variety of different, changing marketing methods, then you can avoid falling behind and losing sales.

Classic Marketing Techniques You Should Be Using
If you’re running a small business, you need to be using these classic marketing techniques alongside more modern techniques.

Direct Mail
Direct mail is an excellent form of marketing that still works to this day. Your potential customers are checking their mail every day. Many major brands are still using direct mail marketing for sales circulars and catalogs. That should be an indication that this marketing technique still works.

When you’re incorporating classic techniques alongside modern techniques, direct mail can be used in a number of ways. Mail can incorporate QR codes for customers to scan that will take them to product pages. You can also link them to your social pages for more visibility.

Yard Signs
When it comes to local marketing, yard signs are some of the most effective marketing tools at your disposal. Yard signs are seen by hundreds, if not thousands, of people every day when they’re placed in a great location.

Yard signs need a catchy slogan. It can’t be too many words, and it has to stick. Decide what your slogan should be by answering some questions about your message. Then, simplify it. Keep things simple. The fewer words you use, the larger the lettering can be on the sign.

Coupons
Coupons are an excellent traditional marketing technique to drum up some business. Coupons can be used in a storefront or can be a code to be used online. Coupons apply to just about any marketing scenario you can come up with, thanks to the ability to use digital coupons. Don’t underestimate your customers’ desire to save a buck or two.

Marketing Should Be Ever-Changing
While this statement is true, it’s important to recognize that the classics work, even to this day. By investing in direct mailers, yard signs, and coupons, you can generate a huge amount of income for your business in a short time. Thankfully, these marketing strategies are easy to pull off, making them even more appealing. Go back to the basics with your marketing today!

Love that yard signs were mentioned! I used to work in automotive advertising and with the experiences I have had it seems that everyone in automotive loves bus shelters!

I loved receiving the direct mail from Ikea in my mail box. They sent one for every season for inspiring design ideas.
But when I moved house, I stopped receiving them as I couldn't be bothered to proactively change my home address records with them.
It is a practical disadvantage with direct mail. Also also the time/money/effort in printing the beautiful mailers.
