Justin Goodman: A Rising Star Nominee’s Perspective

By Cindy Williams posted 11-29-2016 01:01 PM

Justin Goodman, DAA 2016 Rising Star nominee recently shared what he believes is behind his Rising Star nomination, what he considers the greatest value of DAA, and the action he knows is the very best service you can provide your clients.

Today, Justin is the Digital Analytics Lead at Analytics Pros, but he got his start in the field as an ad agency account manager. Early on he realized that the only way to achieve career success was to be self driven and squarely focused on his goals. It's a philosophy that has served him well over the years.

Why Justin thinks he was nominated as a Rising Star

"I believe I was nominated because clients can see the value I provide. I was pleased that all the recommendations submitted on my behalf were from clients talking about how I helped them achieve success through data. It felt good to be appreciated by the clients."

How Justin became interested in the analytics field

“My interest in analytics developed largely out of my marketing jobs and seeing first hand what analytics could do to help clients.”

Justin’s best tip for fellow analysts

“The #1 thing I’ve learned it that it’s vital to be a good listener. Really tune into what the client is seeking and translate that into questions you can answer. Don’t automatically jump to a standard answer. Really listen and answer your clients’ questions thoughtfully. That’s the best service you can provide.”

The value Justin receives from DAA membership

“For me the formalized networking is the most valuable aspect of DAA. I like hearing input for those with a high level of authority in the field. The backing of the organization gives weight to people’s opinions. There need to be more mentors who those new to the field can call to discuss their specific challenges.

The analytics community in the San Diego area

“I wish the community was stronger in San Diego. Los Angeles is really the Southern California hub. It’s the closest DAA chapter.

Justin is a regular presenter at workshops, conferences and summits and was also a guest lecturer at Emory University Goizueta Business School.
