The Certified Web Analyst® Program Moves Forward

By Marilee Yorchak posted 03-27-2017 06:54 PM

In August of 2010, the DAA launched the Certified Web Analyst (CWA) program™ with great excitement surrounding the new credential. Since that time, a number of analysts from many global regions have passed the certification exam and as a result, have been awarded the designation of Certified Web Analyst®.

Renewed excitement for the CWA program surrounds a number of certification program changes!

Likely the biggest change is a move from proctored exam centers to Internet Based Testing (IBT).  The move to IBT will significantly benefit certification candidates. As a result of this change, candidates will no longer need to make an appointment to test at a specified test center.  The certification examination is available any time 24/7 in the candidate’s location of choice (providing the location is private, of course)!

The switch to IBT has resulted in cost savings to DAA. In turn, DAA is passing the cost savings to candidates in adjusted lower certification fees. Current fees save a candidate nearly $150 over previous cost. Click here to start your certification!

If you are a DAA Member or make the move to join DAA now, you will become eligible for the member rate for certification, a savings of $200!

You know the saying, “time flies”. It is so true! A number of changes have been initiated toward making it easier to keep your certification active. To be eligible to renew your Certified Web Analyst™ certification, you need to accumulate 40 professional development units (PDU) from the time of certification to the time of expiry. From 2017 forward, the certification term is extended from two to three years. The extended term will minimize the pressure for CWAs to gain PDU as quickly.

PDU options are being reviewed for greater accessibility and many courses are now pre-approved for credits. As a result of the review, the number of allotted PDU credits will be made visible for professional development options offered by DAA. Webinars and Thought Leader Conversations fulfill a need for accessible professional development options.

If you are an instructor or a provider of analytics education courses, you can apply to DAA for pre-approval of PDU credits for your education program(s).

A number of subject matter experts currently serve to review and to refresh exam content.

Our fresh take on marketing the program will increase recognition of the credential to benefit all CWAs!

As an analyst, you are invited to join in the excitement of becoming a CWA while adding the credential to your personal brand!
