DAA is pleased to announce two new volunteer opportunities related to the Competency Development Project.

  1. Self-Assessment Project: Beginning this month, DAA will form a new project task force charged with guiding the development of the Digital Analytics Self-Assessment. This online tool will help digital analysts explore career roles they desire, discover the skills necessary to function effectively in each role, and identify the resources available to build those skills.

The task force will be comprised of 5 - 6 members with experience across the profession.

The task force will focus on review of and recommendations for the self-assessment tool’s:

    • Overall design and functionality
    • Reports
    • Professional development plan/personalized learning plan
    • Benchmarking functionality
    • Alignment with job titles, career paths, and certification requirements

      Timeline:

    • March:  Select task force members. First task force call. Outline project and assign research.
    • March - April: Bi-weekly task force calls.  Define the overall design, desired functionality, and reports.
    • April: Finalize design, functionality, and reports.

The job descriptions will span three levels of the profession from entry-level to intermediate to advanced positions.

The task force will be comprised of 7 members with experience hiring and interviewing digital analysts across various levels of the profession. The taskforce will consist of 1 Taskforce Chair, 2 task force members for each Competency Level. An 8th task force member will be needed near the end of the project to review and edit the job descriptions for continuity and consistency.

The task force will focus on:

  • Identifying job titles for each position within each level of the competency framework
  • General functions/tasks of each position
  • Specific competencies – tasks, knowledge, & skills – required
  • Education and experience recommended
  • Relevant certifications and certificates
  • Career mobility/path of progression from one job title to the next (career tracks)

    Timeline:

  • March:  Select task force members
  • March: First task force call. Outline project, assign subgroups, subgroups conduct research
  • April: Second task force call.  Begin defining the job titles (and possible career path/tracks) and job descriptions.
